SALON LOCATOR

Case Study

As a beauty enthusiast who enjoys searching up new salons where ever I go, Google Maps doesn't properly list them out nor does it show accurate information for each salon or spa. That was my initial reason for designing Salon Locator.

Despite being a completed project, I saw multiple issues with Salon Locator, and began making necessary adjustments to this project. To view the initial Project Brief, please click here.

Keeping the purpose of Salon Locator simple is a better option and makes a more purposeful app. Salon Locator is a simple app that locates all salons and spas, displays their information, and allows clients to leave reviews. It's like Google Maps, but for beauty enthusiasts!

Brainstorming

When I first designed Salon Locator several years ago, I intended to make it a Google Maps app strictly for beauty industry professionals and beauty enthusiasts. Salon owners could add their salons to this app while clients could search for salons near them while booking appointments at their chosen salon. However, the booking feature was found to be unnecessary due to other software that execute bookings better. Salon owners also should have their own website where they can properly promote their brand in their own way.

Creating User Personas

I've created user personas to illustrate who will be the primary users of Salon Locator. Click here to view the personas individually.

I used Adobe XD to design the low-fidelity wireframe and uploaded a copy of it on Figma since I no longer have a paid account with Creative Cloud.

High-Fidelity Wireframe

Prototyping

I redesigned the wireframe and created the prototype for both smartphones and tablets.
